A fire retardant is a substance that significantly delays and can prevent the onset of fire.

What is Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM?

Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM is a durable, non-toxic, non-allergenic fire retardant chemical coating which is carried in an aguenous (water) solution. When completely dried and cured, it is both odorless and colorless and is visible only under a long wave ultra violet light. When applied and cured for 48 hours, Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM will resist flame under the most adverse conditions.

Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM can be applied to a wide variety of items, including carpeting, bedding, mattresses, upholstery, draperies, paper, and lumber. When properly applied, Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM meets or exceeds the criteria for a Class "A" rating on most materials.

How does Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM work?
Fire spreads as the temperature of the heat source rises to the point of ignition. Initially, the spread is restricted to items in direct contact with the flame. However, when the temperature reaches 1400o degrees, all combustibles and gases ignite in a phenomenon called Flashover. Flashovers can occur in less than 3 minutes. By significantly increasing the ignition point of combustible items, Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM drastically decreases the danger of fire.

How is Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM different from other fire retardants?
Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM can treat both natural and synthetic materials. It is visible under long wave UV light so that the initial application and any need for reapplication can easily be checked. Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM is UV stable and has been demonstrated to significantly inhibit sun fading and sun rot. Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM dries to an invisible durable protective shield with no residue or rings to change the esthetics of treated Items. When dry Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM is non corrosive to metal.

What is Sun-Shield?

Sun-Shield is the UV Stablizing agent in Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM which protects fabrics against damage from sun fading and sun rot.

Does Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM work on everything?
No. Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM works on items that are absorbent or that will allow Inspecta-Shield Plus's^TM silica to adhere to them. In other words, Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM can only treat items it can reach. An easy test is to apply a drop of water to the surface of the material. If the water does not bead up the Item can be treated with Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM. Because of its unique penetration formula, Inspecta-Shield Plus^TM is able to effectively fire retard lumber and many fabrics previously coated with a soil repellent.
